UPSC GEO SCIENTIST AND GEOLOGIST EXAM 2014 ONLINE APPLICATION UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam 2014
Examination Notice No.- 05/2014-GEOL
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online application from the eligible candidates for fill up Geologist Group A, Chemist, & Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist) 265 Vacancies, through Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination conducted by UPSC on 24.05.2014.
Detail of Vacancies:
1. Category I : (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines)
(i) Geologist, Group A – 100 Posts
(ii) Geophysicist, Group A- 80 Posts
(iii) Chemist, Group A – 80 Posts
2. Category II: (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources)
(i) Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group A- 05 Posts
NOTE: 10 vacancies of Geologists are reserved for Physically Challenged candidates belonging to the Hearing Impairment (Partially Deaf)/Orthopaedically Handicapped (One Arm (OA) & One Leg (OL)).
4 vacancies each of Geophysicist and Chemist are reserved for Physically Challenged candidates belonging to the Hearing Impairment (Partially Deaf).
No vacancies reserved for Physically Challenged candidates have been reported by Central Ground Water Board for the post of Junior Hydrogeologists.
Age Limit: A candidate for this exam must have attained the age criteria as prescribed below-
(a) For Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist (Group ‘A’)- A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the first day of the month of August of the year in which the Examination is to be held [i.e. as on 1st August, 2014] i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August,1982 and not later than 1st August 1993.
(b) For Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B)- A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 35 years on the first day of the month of August of the year in which the Examination is to be held [i.e. as on 1st August, 2014] i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August,1979 and not later than 1st August 1993.
Age Relaxation as per Government Rules.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
1. For Geologists Group A- Master’s Degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marin Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a Recognized university/ Institute.
2. For Geophysicists Group A- M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc.(Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics)or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a Recognized university/ Institute.
3. For Chemists Group A- M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a Recognized university/ Institute.
4. For Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B)- (a) Master’s Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a Recognized University. OR
(b) Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized university.
Application Fee: Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) either by depositing the money in any branch of State Bank of India by cash or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using VVisa/Debit/Credit/Master Card.
Female/SC/ST/PH category candidates are Exempted from payment of Fee.
